Her work helps others, and she is fascinated with creating sustainable businesses that become valuable assets for their owners. Nikki is the host of a podcast, Women Thriving in Business, and in this episode is talking about growing your business.

Relating the concepts and cycles for your business is as true as it is for agriculture. It follows the process of first sowing the seeds, laying the groundwork, cultivating the soil, planting the seeds and then waiting to reap the benefits of your hard labor. However, harvesting is the most important part of this process. Harvesting at the proper time optimizes the opportunity to be successful and have consistent outcomes. Relating it to the concept of early and late harvest becomes foremost.

Think of early harvest as fruits and vegetables that are sweeter, and lighter in nutritional value, those that you can enjoy earlier in the summer. Thinking of it from a business standpoint, as you put in the hard work, what are you harvesting early on? It could be all the social media metrics, and recognition. For example, those metrics relate to who is seeing you, and how often you are being noticed by the public.

Late harvest refers to those that are harvested as you move into the cooler months. This includes apples, pumpkins, squash and as you get into the late fall/ early winter, you end up harvesting the more heartier vegetables like turnips, radishes, and greens. Relating it to the business aspect, it follows the lines of actual qualified leads that would in turn lead to sales conversations and later down the line generating revenue.

Going through that period of early harvest is favorable to your business. However, you don’t want to spend lots of time focused on trying to rush that early harvest out as it could be detrimental to your business. Go through it, go through the process. Use that early harvest as a stepping stone to get to the late harvest, which is where you will want to be generating consistent and predictable revenue. This way your business continues to prosper and grow into a sustainable business that supports your life.

Along with the process of early and late harvest in business terms, there are 4 other pieces of advice to move your business forward. One, being clear about your relationship with money. Two, defining and articulating the vision for your business. Three, developing a strategy to move your business forward. And lastly four, identifying new sources of business that you can pursue.

By following these steps, you are moving your business forward during this season. You too, can create a thriving business that supports the life that you want to live combining your passions and strengths.
