The Power of Global Marketing — Julie Roehm
Leading global marketing is about more than just managing campaigns — it’s about enabling the business to succeed on a global scale. Recently, I had the opportunity to share my thoughts on this during the “Warrior Women in Business” podcast.
When discussing the essentials of leading global marketing in a large, decentralized organization, part of my response was:
“The role of global marketing is to be an enabler to the business, not to create a kingdom or fear… It’s about understanding what our colleagues around the world need in order to drive business and be successful for their customer.”
I’ve always believed that communication is the cornerstone of effective global marketing. Whether it’s internal communication across time zones or aligning with partners globally, the key is collaboration. As I mentioned,
“the answers are rarely inside your four walls; they are with your colleagues and with your customers.”
What excites me most about my role is the opportunity to visit different markets, meet with teams on the ground, and learn from their experiences. It’s about understanding the local nuances while maintaining a global perspective. This hands-on approach allows me to bring new ideas and best practices back to the global team, ensuring that we’re all moving forward together.
In addition to the technical aspects of the job, I’m deeply committed to supporting other women in business. I shared how important it is for women to see that success is possible in any industry, even those traditionally dominated by men. As I said on the podcast,
“It’s about creating opportunities and showcasing that success is possible.”
We’re living in a time where global marketing is more dynamic and challenging than ever, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. By focusing on collaboration, communication, and supporting others, we can achieve great things together.
