Penn State Health Enhances Access to Fertility Services and Pediatric Specialties in York County - Samantha Butts

Back in August 2021, Penn State Health announced its plan to expand facilities in the midstate. This plan includes opening a new hospital in Cumberland County and Lancaster County, opening two new medical practices in Lower Paxton Township and in Upper Allen Township, along with a new diagnostic center in Lower Paxton Township.
Fast forward to November 2021, Penn State Health decided to expand its Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility practice into York County, when it began taking over the care of the patients at The Fertility Center at 130 Leader Heights Road in York Township. With the goal of making necessary healthcare services accessible for residents of York County and the surrounding area to reproductive endocrinology and fertility services and pediatric specialties.
Dr. Samantha Butts, chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Penn State Health, and her team of providers will offer diagnostic and treatment options for couples desiring pregnancy and women with reproductive system disorders, in addition to obstetric care. Dr. Robert Filer, the founder, and director of The Fertility Center will retire after 34 years of treating patients leading to his practice will close, and Penn State Health will arrange to see patients at his former practice site.
The health system plans to renovate the Leader Heights building beginning in January 2022 to accommodate expanded reproductive endocrinology and infertility services, maternal-fetal medicine, and pediatric services. During renovations, the building will be closed to patients, and the practice will move temporarily to Penn State Health Medical Group ─ White Rose.
Pediatric specialties at the remodeled practice site will include cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology, nephrology, complex care, and surgical consults. Fertility services will include on-site consultations and diagnostics, andrology, and monitoring and coordination of services provided at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, such as in-vitro retrievals, embryo transfers, and embryo storage. The facility will house six pediatric exam rooms, two cardiac testing rooms, and a laboratory. Penn State Health anticipates renovations to be completed in Spring 2023.
